About the role
167 Solutions is partnering with a global organisation going through a significant AI transformation to find an experienced AI Technical Lead. This is a role that sits between business strategy and technical delivery, so you'll need to be comfortable setting direction while still being hands-on with solution design, architecture and engineering. You'll shape AI roadmaps, define standards and governance, and lead the technical delivery of enterprise AI and Generative AI programmes. Day to day, that means working with senior stakeholders to turn business problems into practical AI solutions, building production-ready applications with modern open source AI frameworks, and giving technical leadership to a mix of AI engineers, software developers and data teams. You'll work closely with architects, engineering teams, cloud and DevOps colleagues, and executive leadership, so the ability to move between deep technical detail and clear business conversation matters. This is a permanent, full-time position, fully remote and UK-based, with occasional travel to client sites.
Key responsibilities
Design scalable AI architectures suitable for large enterprise environments
Work closely with senior business stakeholders to translate challenges into AI solutions
Define AI strategy, standards, governance and best practice
Build production-ready AI applications using modern open source AI frameworks
Provide technical leadership across AI engineers, software developers and data teams
Design Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions and intelligent AI agents
Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate
Ensure AI platforms meet security, compliance and responsible AI requirements
Support solution architecture, technical documentation and design reviews
Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence across the AI function
Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure and DevOps teams to deploy scalable AI solutions

Strong hands-on software engineering background
Experience building production-grade Generative AI solutions
Commercial experience with Large Language Models (LLMs)
Strong understanding of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)
Experience developing AI agents and multi-agent workflows
Prompt engineering expertise
Python development experience
API development and systems integration
Experience with vector databases
Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP)
Experience deploying AI applications into enterprise environments
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, comfortable presenting to executive and non-technical audiences
