Why this opportunity stands out
Build production RAG, conversational-agent and agent-orchestration solutions for a major technology consulting environment.
About the role
167 Solutions is supporting a large technology consulting organisation seeking experienced AI Engineers for a London-based hybrid engagement.
You will design and build production-ready artificial intelligence solutions, with a particular focus on retrieval-augmented generation, conversational agents and agent orchestration. Working within a multidisciplinary consulting team, you will turn business requirements into secure, scalable AI services that integrate cleanly with enterprise platforms.
This is a hands-on contract for an engineer who is comfortable moving from experimentation and evaluation through to production deployment.
Key responsibilities
• Develop agent orchestration workflows, tool integrations and multi-step reasoning services.
• Build secure Python APIs and services that connect models, data sources and enterprise applications.
• Evaluate and integrate Hugging Face and other open-source foundation models.
• Deliver cloud-native AI services using AWS, including appropriate data, compute and security services.
• Design document ingestion, chunking, embedding, retrieval and evaluation pipelines.
• Improve model quality, latency, observability, reliability and cost efficiency.
• Work with architects, engineers, product teams and client stakeholders throughout delivery.
• Apply appropriate controls for data security, model governance and responsible AI.
• Document designs, operational procedures and technical decisions clearly.
What they're looking for

• Experience developing chat agents, tool-using agents or agentic AI applications.
• Practical knowledge of agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain or equivalent.
• Strong Python engineering and API development skills, ideally including FastAPI.
• Experience with AWS AI, data and deployment services.
• Commercial use of Hugging Face, transformer models or comparable open-source AI tooling.
• Understanding of embeddings, semantic search and vector databases.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and secure cloud deployment.
• Strong consulting communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Benefits
